![]() ![]() It’s a big reason Google fiber flopped big time here, they couldn’t overcome the law. ATT laid a huge amount of fiber to claim most of Atlanta in anticipation of Google fiber but left most lying inactive when Google dropped their plans. Unfortunately I’m in Atlanta where the only choice for faster uploads is fiber and double unfortunately ATT has a legal monopoly (GA law is first claim over a certain connection (fiber or cable) gets the whole area exclusively forever) over fiber in most areas around and they simply refuse to activate it in more than a few very small areas (Google found a small area ATT didn’t claim but haven’t spread beyond it). I'm wondering if maybe I've gone down the wrong path here and should rethink my strategy. ![]() My question is, am I doing something wrong? Is this par for the course for Synology and/or Backblaze (maybe I need another offsite company or forgo Synology)? Nothing special about the backups, they are configured mostly default. I have another client that has a similar connection who I was thinking of moving to Backblaze and Synology but they have 3 or 4 TB and having the initial backup take 18 - 24 weeks is madness. At this rate it's going to take 6 weeks or so to finish which seems like a lot. Hyperbackup has been running for 10 days now (today is the 11th day) and I'm only at 238GB uploaded. Client side Encryption and Backblaze encryption on the container are enabled.Īll bandwidth tests show full bandwidth is available. We are using M365 Active Backup (roughly 400GB) and 2 servers using Active Backup For Business (the other 600GB).Īm backing up both offsite using Hyperbackup to a Backblaze B2 container. We are on a Comcast Gigabit connection (40+Mbps upload). I've done a lot of googling on this and have read many threads making sure I'm doing this correctly but I can't wrap my head around the initial upload taking 6 weeks or more but maybe that's how it is these days with Synology products or Backblaze can someone tell me if something isn't right or am I being impatient? ![]()
